Hosting Event Online Testing (EOT)

Event Online Testing (EOT) appeals to training companies and other organizations that test groups of candidates simultaneously via computer. In many instances, candidates are brought together at a single location to go through training and then complete testing. EOT administrations are conducted at CCO authorized test centers.

What Does EOT Look Like?

EOT sites may be dedicated facilities (such as an employer’s office or training facility) or set up at temporary locations such as hotels or other off-site locations.

Each candidate needs a dedicated computer for the test administration. However, because of the flexibility of this modality, a candidate may be scheduled to use a computer in the morning, and a different candidate may use the same device in the afternoon.

Any supplemental material, such as load charts, reference material, or calculators, is provided within the exam on-screen. On test day, the candidates are checked in by a Proctor who is physically present. The candidate then takes all exams they are scheduled for in succession. Following the EOT exams candidates receive their results onscreen. Results are also emailed and available in their myCCO Portal

Exam security is maintained by the physically present proctor. In addition, exam administrations are also recorded. Every candidate is recorded from start to finish via webcam, microphone, and screen record.

What is required to setup an EOT Test Administration?

There are several components to setting up an EOT test administration. Test administrations require:

  • CCO-credentialed Testing Personnel
  • A pre-approved EOT Site

CCO Credentialed Testing Personnel

There are three roles involved in EOT administration and the company or organization setting up the exam is responsible for providing the required personnel:

  • Test Site Coordinator (TSC)
  • Test Administration Coordinator (TAC); and
  • EOT Proctor

The Test Site Coordinator (TSC) is responsible for managing the test site and coordinating all aspects of the test administration, including assigning on-site personnel. TSCs must complete an online training and assessment to be credentialed by CCO to perform their responsibilities.

The Test Administration Coordinator (TAC) is responsible for providing on-site support to the TSC and working together with the Proctor to execute the test administration. TACs must complete an online training and assessment to be credentialed by CCO to perform their responsibilities. A TAC must be assigned to a test administration by the TSC.

The EOT Proctor is responsible for administering the EOT exams, including verifying the candidate ID and ensuring the security and integrity of the exam(s) are not compromised. Proctors must attend a four-hour virtual training and complete an assessment to become credentialed by CCO to perform their responsibilities. A Proctor must be assigned to a test administration by the TSC.

One person may play multiple roles as long as they have completed the required training and earned the applicable CCO Credential. EOT Proctors are subject to the CCO Testing Personnel Conflict of Interest policy.

Although not required, contracting with a third-party proctor is an option. Proctors, Inc. can provide credentialed EOT Proctors upon request. For more information on proctor availability, fees, and scheduling, you may contact Proctors, Inc directly at 917-808-2343.

See the Fees page for information on Testing Personnel related fees.

EOT Site Requirements

Before an EOT test administration may be scheduled, the site must be approved. Credentialed TSCs are fully trained on what is required of an EOT site and how to submit the applications. Sites should be submitted for approval at least four weeks prior to desired test date and will be processed in the order they are received. Upon approval of the test site, the TSC will be able to immediately setup EOT test administrations.

Testing Room

The EOT testing room must meet the following requirements:

  • Indoor facility suitable for EOT exam delivery
  • Quiet, well-lit, and properly ventilated, with a comfortable temperature and free from distractions to candidates

  • Large signs prominently posted directing candidates to the testing area
  • Convenient access to restrooms stocked with sufficient supplies, located near the testing area; post directional signs, if necessary
